Redesigning the Food Screen
20th Jul, 2026What better a way to start the day than by carrying 200kg of sand and cement through the house into the garden (about 50m)
I then contemplated doing more work on the patio but decided it's probably a good time to rest and I decided to work on Bearly Fit instead.
I spent some time on sitemaps and index now. Google search console rejects the sitemap, whilst Bing is more than happy with it. I still can't work out why, so for now I've built a HTML sitemap to compliment the main one and indexed that.
I've also been working on the Food screen. This screen frankly bugs me. It has to show far too much information and my first attempt ended up being confusing and cluttered. So I've been playing about with the UI today trying to find a happy medium that gives the user all the information without confusing them. I think i've struck a initial good balance.
And last but not least... I had a couple of good calls and a few DMs. It's funny that despite 2 decades of backend, front end and mobile experience - I get pigeon holed into React native because that's been my last few contracts. That said, one recruiter has put me forward and a tech lead is going to give me a shout when they have a job description.
All and all I would call day 2 another success!
Thanks for reading my nonsense!
